Some updates…

There is just so much going on in Back Together world during the past few weeks…

Two weeks ago, I spoke at the Health Freedom Expo in Chicago, and participated in a panel discussion with several other contributors to Martha Stewart’s Whole Living- it was a really fun event, and I had the opportunity to meet some of the readers of Whole Living, and visitors to my blog. Thank you so much for coming out to see me- it was fantastic getting to know some of you.

I’ve been out promoting the Back Together iPad app. The response from users so far has been wonderful. If you have an iPad, and you haven’t gotten Back Together Interactive, what are you waiting for? Join users who have been finding relief using this new and innovative approach to back and neck pain. Click here to download it now!

The manuscript for book two is getting closer!!! I am looking for an end-of-August or beginning-of-September release of this book, and it is turning out great. I am keeping some of the details of this one under my hat until it gets closer to being done, but you’re going to love it. In a related note- I have acquired the rights from my previous publisher for my first book, Back Together- Hands-on Healing for Couples, and will be re-releasing that one as well- with some great improvements. All of this will be coming to you under the new Back Together Media label. I am really excited about this.

I have a stack of viewer mails to respond to- look for one later today, and there should be a new post from me on the Martha Stewart website sometime in the next day or two.

Thanks for stopping by!

One of the ONLY images of a shuttle docked with the International Space Station- photo taken from a leaving supply ship. Amazing! I watched the shuttle program in awe from day 1. Here's hoping the U.S. finds its way back into space SOON!

Welcome back!

Wow! When it rains, it pours. Really. Sometimes, just when you think things are about to level out, you get hit with an avalanche. Welcome to my world!

Things have been crazy here- between the iPad launch, some patient advocacy work, finishing Book 2, getting a new teaching appointment, preparing for some upcoming speaking engagements, and a whole mess of other things, I’ve just been swamped. I’m kind of hoping things will level out this time- ’cause I’m tapped!

Thank you for the amazing response to the iPad app!

Co-creators of the Back Together Interactive App- Me & Jessie Friedman.

Jessie and I are so pleased with the response to the iPad app. Your kind words have really been wonderful. We are currently working on an update to the intro video, which will soon include some great interview footage with some actual Back Together Interactive participants, as well as cleaning up the user interface to make your experience even better. The upgrade will be free to users- so look for it in the next few weeks.

Tell your friends & family members to get their copy today!

Catch me live in Chicago.

I am excited to be a guest speaker at the Health Freedom Expo in Chicago, June 10-12. I will be speaking on Friday, and be a participant in a panel discussion on Saturday. It looks to be a wonderful program, and if you happen to be in the area, it would be great to see you there.

My newest post on Whole Living Daily.

Here is the link to my most recent post on Martha Stewart’s Whole Living Daily. Check it out when you have a chance.

Check back regularly for new updates. I’ve been sitting on a few viewer questions for a while- look for some responses in the next week.

Thanks to everyone for your kind wishes and feedback about the new Back Together iPad app. Jesse Friedman (the youngest app developer in the world mind you!) and I have worked hard to create a wonderful, easy to use app that will demonstrate simple, safe, and effective hands on tools and techniques for preventing and relieving back and neck pain. If you’ve got an iPad, I encourage you to check it out.

Coming this week…

Viewer Question, Updates on iPad App & New Book

Viewer Question Regarding Anti-inflammatory Medications…

“My doctor recently prescribed an anti-inflammatory for a sprained back. It does seem to take some of the edge off, but I feel like I am just putting a band-aid on the pain, without really helping things to heal. Shouldn’t I be doing physical therapy or something to help get myself out of pain?”
-Jason

Jason, thanks so much for your great question.

It can often feel like pain medications are just, as you put it, a band-aid, but anti-inflammatories are an interesting sub group of pain medications. You see, while drugs like Motrin do reduce pain, they may actually help you to heal faster as well. Sprains and strains of muscles and other tissues result in inflammation which occurs in the form of swelling or edema. What this swelling can do is inhibit blood flow to the areas which are healing, and actually prolong the length of time it may take for you to feel better. While sometimes additional treatment like physical therapy may be helpful, it is important to note that every injury is different- and this may not be right for you. Additionally, some injuries require time to become less acute before implementing more physically intensive approaches. If you have questions or concerns, you should really speak to your physician, and tell them what you are thinking- they should be willing to discuss your treatment options, and the thoughts behind their treatment decisions.

I hope this helps.

Updates…

I have been working furiously to finish up the Back Together iPad application, and it is getting much closer to being finished. The other programmer, Jessie, and I have been going to great lengths to make this a truly great program. Check back here for more updates.

Next week, I will be headed to Miami to do the final shooting for my next book, ‘Back Pain: The One Thing.’ I am really proud of how this is all turning out, and I know you will really love the book.

As everyone embarks upon living up to their new years resolutions, you might have noticed that I haven’t posted a Fitness Challenge update in some time- check back later in the week for the latest news. In the mean time, why not let me know how you are doing with your own fitness goals.

Thanks for stopping by,

Andy

OK- Let’s see how geeky my viewers really are. What’s wrong with this picture?

Back Together Interactive Forums Launching Soon!

Wednesday, November 10th, 2010

As many of you know, I’ve been working with David & Jesse to get our iPad app up and running, and the prototype is simply wonderful. The amount of really usable content you will get for such a low price is really stunning. I know my readers with iPads will enjoy it.

One of the great side benefits of all of the work we’ve done to get this up and running are the back together user forums, which will go live on the Back Together website (backtogether.org) on the day the app launches. These forums will be available free to all registered users, and will have some wonderful features:

-Areas to discuss any of the techniques in the Back Together DVD, Book, app, or website, giving you the opportunity to discuss your experiences with other users, sharing tips and suggestions.

-An ‘ask the doctor’ forum, where you can submit questions to one of the several experts contributing to the forum.

-An alternative medicine forum, where users can share experiences with alternative approaches to back & neck pain.

-And much more!

We’ve worked hard to create what we know will grow into one of the most comprehensive back & neck pain resources on the Internet.

Stay tuned for more info. Check in tomorrow for a response to a video viewer question.

Be well!
